Helping people grow their wealth: it’s what I was meant to do.
Where I was raised: I grew up in Gustine, California—a small farming town in the San Joaquin Valley—where I spent most my time raising dairy cattle, showing them at fairs, and working for the various farmers. In a town of less than three thousand and a high school graduation class of fifty “something” I couldn’t wait to get to college (my dorm at UC Davis held more students than my entire high school). In hindsight, growing up in a town where everyone knows everybody else, you learn the importance of treating people well and with respect. It’s a place where your word is your bond; a handshake means something; your name is your reputation.
College: I graduated from UC Davis in Davis, California in 1986. I entered with the expectation of establishing a career in agriculture (I earned a BS in Agricultural and Managerial Economics–Davis’s equivalent of a business degree) but fell in love with advertising after my freshman year and made my goal to learn as much about it as possible.
Previous Career/Training Ground: After graduation—and over the next 18 years—I spent most of my time in the radio advertising business in Sacramento, California. After 10 years as an Account Executive selling air-time (I worked with small companies helping them brand and market as well as Fortune 500 companies like Sony, Toro, Mr. Goodwrench, Keebler Snacks, BF Goodrich, Mastercard and many others), I became sales manager, then station manager with major media companies like American Radio Systems, CBS Radio, Infinity Broadcasting, Viacom and Entercom Broadcasting. Throughout my advertising career I always had the desire to have my own business. While I wasn’t sure what it would be, I knew that when the time and opportunity was right I would know it. I also knew that working so closely with all these different companies, in so many different industries, would help give me a base of knowledge and perspective, and it did. I saw the good; bad and ugly of successful and not-so-successful businesses. And while I had several opportunities over the years to join clients in different ventures, I eventually found my passion: helping people with their finances in the mortgage industry (ask me and I’ll tell you how that came to be).
WealthWise Mortgage Planning: I founded our company with the belief that we need to educate and empower our clients when it comes to mortgage and finance. When you see the words “Always in your best interest” on our website or company materials, know that they are the foundation upon which our company is built, and the standard against which our decisions are made when it comes to advising you about your finances. Because we do this everyday, we are exposed to information that most people are not, especially in the area of personal finance and credit. With that knowledge comes an obligation to help our clients to learn and understand what effects their financial situation—positively and negatively—and then pass that information on to them so they can make educated decisions for themselves. And when it comes to the mortgage transaction specifically, our hope is that when it’s completed our clients will not only understand the process through which they’ve come, they’ll feel as if it’s the finest mortgage finance experience they’ve ever had. When our clients refer us to friends and family, we know we’ve accomplished our goal.
Thank you: Thank you for spending time getting to know a little bit about me and WealthWise Mortgage Planning. My goal is to have you as a client and friend for life. While I welcome any comments you might have about your experience with us, I am especially interested in ways that we can improve so that each successive loan experience is better than the last. | |
